| Swine Hill 1, Northumberland | |||
| NY904825 | 550 x 570 ft (168 x 174 m) | 6 acres (2.4 ha) | This almost square fort is located about 100m to the W of Dere Street 4km SSE of the Risingham fort. The camp has 3 gates, all with internal clavicula defences set centrally in the E side and offset to the E in the N & S defences; the camp therefore faced Dere Street to the E. The smaller Camp-2 lies in the NW corner of this camp, utilising part of its defences. |
| Swine Hill 2, Northumberland | |||
| NY904825 | c.200 x 200 ft (c.60 x 60 m) | c.¾ acre (0.3 ha) | This small camp lies entirely within the NE quadrant of Camp-1 utilising part of the earlier large camp's N & W defences, with the addition of new, rather more insubstantial defences to S & E The only gateways both appear in the E side, about equidistant from the SE corner-angle and the junction of the N & E rampart, some 25m apart and both protected by external tituli. The fact that the earlier Camp-1 defences were re-used unmodified proves that the period between the camps was not very long. |
