Although unexcavated it is thought that this fort was probably founded during early-Trajanic times, perhaps c.103AD. The Stanegate fort was not preceeded by an Agricolan camp, as is the situation at Old Church Brampton also. The fort was very likely abandoned during Hadrianic times and never re-occupied.
