| SD914654 | 850 x 1,020 ft (c.260 x c.310 m) | 20 acres (8.1 ha) | This large sub-rectangular camp is situated on a high saddle of land and is protected on the W by the valley of Gordale Beck and to the N by the shallow gulley of an unnamed tributary stream. There are 4 gateways apparent, all protected by internal claviculae, placed centrally in the shorter N & S sides and displaced to the N in the E & W sides (ratio 2:1); the camp faced N. The defences consisted of a wide rampart and external ditch which are easily traceable but damaged by natural subsidence of the underlying limestone. |
