The East Anto Roman settlement is situated 2 miles (3.2km) south-south-east of Andover at the junction of several Roman roads and trackways. Excavations conducted in 1970 at the centre of the settlement failed to locate the Roman crossroads but uncovered the pits, walls, floors, pottery and other debris of Roman occupation.
The British section of the 7th century Ravenna Cosmology contains a road-station named Leuco magno (R&C#45), listed between the entries for Noviomagus (Chichester, Sussex) and Cunetio (Mildenhall, Wiltshire); this entry has been equated with the East Anton settlement, the commonly accepted spelling being Leucomagus.
Aside from the two main Roman roads there is in addition an ancient trackway a little to the south which runs eastwards to join up with the North Downs Way in Kent, and westwards through Salisbury Plain and Stonehenge towards Devon and Cornwall.
