The site of a 1st century settlement known by a series of ditches and occupation material consisting of large quantities of locally-made cooking pots dated around AD50-100. Later the site of a 4th century pottery-kiln with a 1m internal diameter, which had been cut into a mound of sand and lined with puddled clay. Some of the pottery closely resembles the wares produced at Throlam, a little to the north, while other cooking-pots of coarse-gritted hard grey-ware similar in form to Dales Ware.
