| SH717383 | (c.30 x 30 m) | (c.0.22 ha) | First reported in 1965, this Roman earthwork is situated beside a slate quarry less than ¾-mile east-south-east of the fort at Tomen-y-Mur. The small platform created by Roman troops on training exercise(s) is still visible as a raised earthwork, and was equipped with inwardly-curving clavicula defences at each of its centrally-placed 'gateways'; these elaborate defensive earthworks leave little space in the interior which could be occupied, and have led to the site being classified as a 'military practice work'. |
