| NO242118 | (610 x 396 m) | (c.24 ha) | This large camp, discovered on A.P.'s taken in the early 1960's, lies on the south slopes of the Ochil Hills just east of Auchtermuchty. A section across the south-eastern defences revealed a military, V-shaped ditch 9 ft. wide and 5 ft. deep (c.2.7 x 1.5 m). |
This camp lies some 4 miles (6.5 km) south-east of the Severan fortress and camps at Carpow on the south bank of the Tay, but is probably not associated with them. There is another marching-camp 7 miles (c.11 km) to the east at Edenwood and one more overlooking St. Andrew's bay at Bonnytown another 11 miles (c.18 km) further east, both of which very-likely belong to the same campaigns through East Fife, possibly during the term of governor Julius Agricola (c.AD77-83).
