History:
  • 24/10/AD51 Born, Titus Flavius Domitianus, on Pomegranate Street in Romes 6th district.
  • AD69 (Dec.) Flavian forces besieged by Vitellians on the Capitol; Domitian escapes dressed as a devotee of Isis.
  • AD70 (Jan.) on accession of Vespasian, took the name Caesar Domitianus.
  • c.AD71 steals his first wife Domitia Longina from her husband Aelius Lamia; brides father is Gn. Domitius Corbulo.
  • AD73 a daughter Domitia? born during his second consulship, with L. Valerius.
  • AD74 a son Domitius? born.
  • 14/09/AD81 Domitian invested with imperial office by the senate, becomes Imperator Caesar Domitianus, Pontifex Maximus, Pater Patriae.
  • c.AD82 Divorces Domitia over her infatuation with the actor Paris, and marries Wife2: Flavia Julia his niece, daughter of his brother Titus, with whom he had been having an affair for a number of years.
  • AD83 in German campaign; victory over the Chatti.
  • AD83 (late) added victory title 'Germanicus'.
  • c.AD83 Flavia Julia dies aborting Domitian's child; he then remarries Domitia.
  • AD85 war breaks out in Dacia.
  • AD87 abortive conspiracy at Rome.
  • AD88 Dacians defeated at Tapae.
  • AD89 Saurninus's revolt; Quadi, Marcomanni and Iazyges attack Danube frontier.
  • AD92 Imperial palace completed; Iazyges defeated.
  • AD93 'reign of terror' begins.
  • AD95 Flavius Clemens executed.
  • 18/09/AD96 stabbed to death at the 5th hour in the palace, by Stephanus the Steward.
